New Iberia - Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, May 8, 2019, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia for Helen Oberdick LaPorte Guidry, 77, who passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2019, at her home.
Inurnment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery.
Pastors Kirk Mitchell and Andy Starks will be the Officiants.
A gathering of family and friends will be at Pellerin Funeral Home from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm on Wednesday.
A native of West Virginia and a longtime resident of New Iberia, Helen Oberdick LaPorte Guidry was born on August 15, 1941 to the late George and Letha Frances Young Oberdick. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, and enjoyed gardening, crafts and fishing, but her passion was walking the beach collecting sea shells.
Helen is survived by her loving husband of 10 years, Vanice Guidry; daughter, Michele Dore and husband Larry; stepdaughters, Cathy Duhon, Rita Babin, and Amy Charpentier; daughter in law, Belinda Lilly and spouse Mitchell; grandchildren, Brandy Riggs, Michael Edwards, and Cyrstal Edwards; great-grandchildren, Vesta Noel and Carzeal Mae; and longtime friend and caregiver, Debbie Estis and spouse Johnny.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Michael Edwards, and husband, Galen Duhon.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the wonderful staff of Heart of Hospice for all of their loving care; and all of her sitters, Wonda Foster, Lou Bertha August, Agnes Sterling, Angelica Foster, Ciera Mack, Phalieshiea Sterling, Annette Dunn, and Vicky Breaux; and a special thanks to Virginia Provost and Debbie Estis for the love and care throughout the years.
