Cecilia - Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 21, 2008, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Cecilia, for Helen Ledet, 82, who passed away on Wednesday, January 16, 2008, at Lafayette General Medical Center.
Interment will follow at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, in Cecilia.
Rev. Fr. J. Aaron Melancon, pastor of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, will officiate at the funeral Mass. ?Readers will be Octavia Ann Ledet, Melissa Marielena, and Monica Landry. ?Gift bearers will be Randy and Vera Landry.
Mrs. Ledet was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary and the Breaux Bridge Crustacean Association. ?She was an avid bingo and pitty patt player, and also enjoyed going to the casino. ?She was an excellent homemaker who made many sacrifices for the welfare of her family, whom she nurtured and cared for dearly. ?Her family, traditionally, always honored her on both, Mother's and Father's Day, because she played both roles to her children.
Survivors include five daughters, Sheila Celestine, and husband, Raymond, Octavia Ledet and fianc?, Whitney, all of Cecilia, Drucilla Dumas, Mary Nell Zenon and husband, Eugene, and Laura Belle Rivers, all of Houston, TX; five sons, Earlie Landry and wife, Georgia, of Cecilia, LeLand Landry and wife, Rudell Sue, of Lafayette, Randy Landry and wife, Vera, of Rialto, CA, Kevin Ledet and wife, Patricia, of Lafayette, and Timothy Ledet and wife, Sharon, of Cecilia; one sister, Elsie LeBlanc, of Lafayette; 31 grandchildren; and 42 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Ledet, Sr.; her parents, Gustave and Octavia Darby Dardar; three brothers, Joseph, Murphy, and Willie Dardar; and one son, Lawrence Ledet, Jr.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. on Sunday and continue at 7:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. on Monday.
A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday.
Pallbearers will be Dedric LeBlanc, Leviticus Ledet, Allen Ledet, LeLand Isaac Landry, Lanchester Dardar, and Roma Celestine.
Her sons will serve as honorary pallbearers, along with Raymond Evans, Whitney Cormier, and Russell Jean Batiste.
