St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville, for Helen Ledet Mitchell, 61, who passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2013, at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home in St. Martinville on Saturday, August 24th from 7:00 am until 10:30 am. A Rosary will be prayed at 9 am. Fr. Stanley Jawa will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Terracia Rogers-Skipper and Braylon Hurd, Sr. Gift Bearers will be Justice Ames, Armoni Martin, Braylon Hurd, Jr., and Caden Hurd. Helen worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for 32 years; having worked at St. Martinville Rehab and Nursing Center for a few years and then at Dauterive Hospital, in the Nursery, for 23 years. She took pride in her work and loved and took care of each and every baby as though they were her own. She is survived by her daughter, Devon (John) Ames; her brother, Wilbert Ledet, Jr.; three sisters, Margaret Wiltz, Lillie Ledet, and Priscilla Charles; and two grandchildren, Armoni Martin and Justice Ames. She is preceded in death by her parents, Wilbert Ledet, Sr. and Mildred Charles Ledet; her sister, Mary Lou Smith; her brother, James Russell Ledet; and her brother-in-law, Wallace Charles. Pallbearers will be Kevin Batiste, Kenneth Batiste, Colby Batiste, Christian Batiste, Wilson Batiste, Braylon Hurd, Sr., Joseph Frank, and Wilbert Ledet, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Arthur Charles, Phillip Ledet, Earl Berard, Francis Benjamin, and Howard Ledet. The family would like to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to: Dr. Daniel Wiltz and staff, Dr. Joseph Brierre, the staff at Louisiana Oncology Associates, Dr. Reatha Williams and the staff at Womens Multi-Specialty Group, the staff at Our Lady of Lourdes - 5th Floor Oncology, and Hospice of Acadiana, for the care and attention given to her during her time of need.
