New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, December 27, 2017, at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church in New Iberia for Heloise "Billie" Chataignier, 89, who passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2017, in New Iberia.
Entombment will follow in the church mausoleum.
Rev. Ed Degeyter will be the Celebrant.
A gathering of family and friends will be Wednesday from 8:30 am until 2:15 pm at Pellerin Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited at 1:00 pm Wednesday.
A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Chataignier was born on April 15, 1928 to the late Leonard Sheridan Fridley and Martha Dugas Fridley. She worked at many places including Abdallas, Murphy's Mart, and Wal-Mart, and she enjoyed cooking, going to church, watching baseball, and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her daughters, Terry Borel and husband Harry of New Iberia, Sylvia Chataignier of New Iberia; son, George Chataignier, Jr. of New Iberia; sister, June LaBauve of New Iberia; brothers, Donald Fridley of San Antonio, Texas, Larry Fridley and wife Martha of Pottsboro, Texas; grandchildren, Paul Wayne Durio, Jr., Kevin Paul Durio and wife Angie, Shari Kaye LaBauve and husband Kevin, Nicole Labit and spouse Danna; and 13 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Chataignier, Sr., brothers, Leonard T. Fridley, Lloyd Fridley, Allen Fridley, Howard Fridley, and sisters, Mary Chatalin, and Natalie Teal.
