He provided a good quality of life for his family working as a farmer in St. Martin Parish for many years alongside brother, Cleopha. Together, they farmed crops such as, cotton, pepper, corn, cabbage, and sugar cane. In his earlier years of farming he handled horse-drawn equipment - then later purchased his tractors, which made his job a good bit easier. Henry always said "Hard work doesn't kill."

Army National Guard - Private Company "F" 156th Infantry from May 15, 1928 - April 30, 1929; and Private Company "L" 156th Infantry from May 1, 1929 - May 14, 1934. He was able to witness and live through many historic events in this country, such as the "Flood of 1927." Henry had five great loves in his life, the 1st being, having the greatest caregiver and friend, Susan Guidry; 2nd, working at John Dever's Store; 3rd, going deer hunting at Mr. Raymond Prejean's Camp with all his hunting buddies; 4th, going shrimping at Grand Isle with Uncle Gaston and Uncle Whitney; and his 5th great love, talking about his trips with Uncle Alfred and Aunt Flo to California and Canada, he had the privilege to say that "he's been all over the world." He will be sadly missed by his family and friends, and all those who had the privilege and honor of knowing and loving him.
He is survived by two daughters, Elaine L. Dugas, and Judy L. Guilbeau and her husband, Michael, all of Parks; five grandchildren, Keith, Bryan, Karen, Cherie, and Justin; and five great grandchildren, Lauren, Logan, Anna Rose, Grayson, and Hayden.
