St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 pm on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church for Herman Louviere, 89, who passed away on Monday, March 6, 2023, at Landmark of Acadiana Nursing Home.
A visitation will take place at the funeral home on Wednesday from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm.
A rosary will be prayed at 11:00 am on Wednesday morning by the Men's Rosary Group of New Iberia.
Father Jason Vidrine will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville.
Herman honorably served his country in the United States Navy. He loved gardening and was known for having the best tomato garden around. Herman also enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time outdoors, and he was an avid Saints fan. A loving husband, brother, and uncle, Herman will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jean Latiolais Louviere; brothers, Frank Louviere and William Louviere; sister, Margaret Lynn Keith (Steven); and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Simon Louviere and Rose Decuir Louviere; sister, Irene Broussard, Beverly Louviere and Thelma Louviere; and brother, Merlin Louviere.
Pallbearers will be David Bourque Jr., Trent Delahoussaye, Doug Fredrick, Nick Fredrick, Chad Viator, and Wayne Sonnier.
Honorary Pallbearers will be David Bourque Sr., Carol Delahoussaye, Kylee Hebert, and Corbert Dinger.
The family gives special thanks to Landmark of Acadiana and Traditions Health Hospice Care, for the compassionate care given to Herman during his time of need.
