St. Martinville - Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, April 28, 2008, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville, for Hilare ""Khrine"" Decuir, 92, who passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at Iberia General Medical Center in New Iberia.
Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville.
Rev. Darrell Kelly, SVD of Notre Dame Church, will conduct the services. Music will be provided by organist Justin Narcisse, and singer Trishena Celestine.
""Khrine"" was a resident of St. Martinville. He loved to fish, work on lawn mowers, play croquet and he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his great-grandchild. He was known as a people person who could spend hours visiting. His lifetime quote was ""Believe in the Lord who can fix anything and everything"".
Survivors include one son, Oren Decuir and his wife, Bessie, of Grand Marais; one daughter, Goldie Decuir Guillory, of Fairfield California; five grandchildren, Troy Decuir of Grand Marais, Cristi Decuir Duplantis of Houma, Seantelle Guillory, Melanie Guillory Lee, and Travis Guillory all of Fairfield, CA; one great-granddaughter Ella Lee of Fairfield, CA; one sister, Katherine Carlson, of New Orleans; his nephews, Weldon Cormier and June Cormier both of Lake Charles, Jimmy Guigneaux of St. Martinville, and Johnny Guigneaux of CA; his nieces, Geneva Elliot of TX, Joyce Decuir of CA, Lynn Carlson and Marie Carlson both of New Orleans; and other friends and relatives.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ella St. Julien Decuir; his parents, Raphael and Regenia Delahoussaye Decuir; four sisters, Bertha McQueen, Loraine Guigneaux, Lena Cormier and Josephine Decuir; and two brothers, Lanius and John Decuir.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 7:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Monday.
A rosary will be recited at 9:00 a.m. on Monday.
Pallbearers will be Troy Decuir, Travis Guillory, Dan Lee, Gregory Duplantis, Allen Guillory and Leonard Fontenette.
Honorary pallbearers will be Merlin Wiltz, Ted St. Julian, Conrad St. Julian, Darrell Barras, George Fontenette, Nolan St. Julian, Prosper Chreten and Jimmy Guigneaux.
