New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Hildarose Guidry Daigre, 86 on Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church with Reverend Michael Arnaud and Monsignor Charles Mallet officiating. She died at her home on Sunday, April 13th surrounded by her loved ones.
Readers will be her brother, E.L. Guidry Jr. and her great grand son, Chase Kenner. Gift Bearers will be her granddaughters: Susie Kenner Charpentier, Michelle Hutchison Killeen, Genee Curry Champagne, and Rebecca Daigre Curry.
Musicians for the Mass include Karen Guidry organist, Jodi Bollich soloist, Wil Green trumpeter and Lauren Baker violinist. Selections will be the following: "Ave Maria"-Gounod, "Be Not Afraid", "On Eagles Wings", "Panis Angelicus", "Hail Mary, Gentle Woman", "On Eagles Wings", "May the Angels Lead You into Paradise".
The family requests that visitation be observed Monday, April 14th from
5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd, New Iberia. A rosary prayed at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue Tuesday, April 15th from 9:00 AM until 1:30 PM. Entombment will follow at Memorial Park Mausoleum in New Iberia.
Mrs. Daigre was born in St. Martinville on April 2, 1922. She graduated from Mercy Convent and attended SLI. After marrying J. Allen Daigre in 1941, New Iberia became her home. She was active in many civic and social organizations over the years. She was an accomplished bridge player, an avid golfer, enjoyed traveling and reading.
Mrs. Daigre was affectionately known by her grandchildren as "Mere" and her family and friends as "Woodie" She had a very kind and loving spirit and she enjoyed life to the fullest. Her greatest joy was raising her six children and being a part of their families' lives.
Survivors include her children: Carmen Merryman and her husband Lewis "Art" of New Iberia, Claudia "Corky" Hutchison and her husband James "Jimmy" of Lafayette, Mayor Hilda D. Curry and her husband Floyd John of New Iberia, Joseph Allen Daigre, Jr.of St. Louis Mo., Stephanie Daigre and Jim Stoutenburg of San Francisco, Ca.; daughter-in law, Carolyn C. Daigre of Fort Worth, Tx.; brother, Judge E.L. Guidry, Jr. and his wife Elaine " Nonnie"; sister, Claudia G. Fuselier; sisters- in- law, Louise B. Guidry of St. Martinville and Marie Elise D. Faulk and husband Roy of New Iberia;
Grandchildren: Kenneth Kenner Jr., Allen James Kenner, Carmen Suzanne "Susie" Kenner Charpentier, Gloria Michelle Hutchison Killeen, James Michael Hutchison, Jr. Scott Larcade Hutchison, Genee Michelle Curry Champagne, Floyd John Curry II, Rebecca Daigre Curry, Alexander Fulton Daigre, Justin Allen Daigre and step- granddaughters Tammye Merryman Doga and Eva Merryman Cormier
Twenty-six great grandchildren and one great- great grandchild
She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years J. Allen Daigre; parents, Judge Edmond Guidry, Sr. and Claudia Gary; son, John Alfred Daigre; brother, Gary Guidry; brothers-in-law, Albert Fuselier Jr., and David Kester Sr.
Pallbearers are grandsons: Kenneth Kenner, Jr., Allen James Kenner, James Michael Hutchison, Jr., Scott Larcade Hutchison, Floyd John Curry II, Alexander Fulton Daigre, Justin Allen Daigre; sons-in-law, Art Merryman, Jimmy Hutchison and Floyd John Curry.
