Hillard Joseph Lafont

Cecilia - A Memorial Service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, February 21, 2015, at Pellerin Funeral Home in Cecilia, for Hillard Joseph Lafont, 87, who passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2015, at St. Martin Hospital. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 8:00 am until 11:45 am on Saturday. Pastor Hector Pulles will officiate at the Memorial Service. Inurnment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Cecilia. Mr. Lafont worked at the salt mine for 31 years prior to his retirement. He loved fishing, gardening, telling stories of his younger years, and he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his daughter, Barbara Lafont of Breaux Bridge; two sons, Kenneth Lafont and Willie (Gloria Carter) Lafont, all of Breaux Bridge; his best friend who was also like a son to him, Bill Garcia, of Breaux Bridge; his sisters-in-law, Mae Thibodeaux Lafont, Frieda Lafont, and Josie Anne Thibodeaux, of New Iberia; his grandchildren, Pauline Domingue, Cami Johnson, Chase Lafont, Tray Patin, Austin Lafont, Daniel Carter, Hannah Carter, and Lindsay Carter; his great grandchildren, Avery Domingue, Mariah Johnson, Taylan Johnson, Tatum Lafont, Kasen Johnson, and Bradyn Lee; and a host of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, Doris Thibodeaux Lafont; his parents, Willie and Amy Thibodeaux Lafont; and two brothers, Howard and Darrel Lafont.
