It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Hilton Joseph Pete, a beloved son, brother, and friend, who left us on March 27, 2025. Born on September 6, 1956, in Lafayette, Louisiana, Hilton's journey through life was marked by resilience, passion, and a deep-rooted love for his family and community. He resided in Breaux Bridge, LA, where he became a cherished figure known for his warm heart and infectious spirit.
Hilton graduated from Breaux Bridge High School, where he made his mark as an exceptional athlete. His unmatched track record and the honor of wearing the football jersey #85 remain etched in the hearts of those who knew him. An avid sports fan, he found joy in cheering for the New Orleans Saints, the Los Angeles Lakers, and LSU, often engaging in spirited discussions about their victories and defeats.
Professionally, Hilton dedicated a significant portion of his life to working as a derrick hand in the oil industry, exemplifying hard work and determination. He also enjoyed his time at Champagne's Bakery, where his love of cooking shone through, delighting many with his culinary creation. He also loved creating and playing football pools, and loved watching horse racing, especially the Kentucky Derby.
As we gather to celebrate Hilton's life, we remember a man whose passion for sports, cooking, and his community left an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in our hearts forever.
He is survived by his sisters, Geneva (Walter) Henry, Eula Pete, Theresa (Joseph) Davis, and Maudrey Brown, who was his godmother; brothers, Michael Pete and John Darrell Pete, who was his godchild; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Solange Landry Pete; brothers, Alton, Clifton, Oscar, Jr., Percy Pete, and Cleveland Pete; and his sisters, Margaret Robinson and Aspisia Comeaux.
