Rynella ;- A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 PM Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at St. Marcellus Catholic Church in Rynella for Howard J. Bodin, Sr., 83 who died Sunday, June 20, 2010 in New Iberia. ; Entombment will follow in Memorial Park Mausoleum. ; Rev. Donovan Labbe will be the Celebrant. Readers include Sam Kenndey and Hazel Touchet. Gift Bearers will be Linda Tullier and Gloria Helmstetter. ; Born on December 10, 1926, Mr. Bodin worked for Gayle Oil Company, Brown & Root, and Dynamic Industries. He was a very special, very lovable person, who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, as well as listening to French music. ; Survivors include his wife, Irma Gary Bodin of New Iberia; daughters, Theresa Hurston of Lafayette, Elaine Gary and husband Jimmie of Youngsville, Gloria Helmstetter and husband Glenn of Baton Rouge, Linda Tullier and husband Mike of New Iberia, Tammy Scelfo and husband Paul of Lafayette; son, Howard J. Bodin, Jr. and wife Gail of Broussard; 10 grandchildren, Elizabeth Hurston, Carmelite Leach and husband Lowell, Joseph Gary, Jr. and wife Jennifer, Mindy Duplantis and husband Kimball, Kristi Landry and husband Todd, George Bodin, Bryce Bodin, Glenn Helmstettler, Jr., Gabriella Scelfo, Kayla Scelfo; 9 great grandchildren, Lisa Nicole DeMeyere and husband Wayne, Zedekiah Leach, Zodah Leach, Matthew Gary, Amber Gary, Andie Gary, Lanie Gary, Ashton Landry, Hunter Landry; and 2 great great grandchildren, Tyler DeMeyere, and Caleb DeMeyere; and his special pet dog companion, "Miss Riley". He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Victoria Breaux Bodin; sisters, Evelyn Gaspard, Effie Butaud, Jeanne Guidry; brothers, Constant Bodin, Maurice Bodin, Dallas Bodin, Clarence B. Bodin, Willis Bodin; son-in-law, Tony Young. ; Pallbearers will be Howard Bodin, Jr., George Bodin, Paul Scelfo, Glenn Helmstettler, Sr., Todd Landry, and Joseph Gary, Jr. Honorary pallbearers include Mike Tullier, Jimmie Gary, and Larry Bodin. ; The family would like to give special appreciation to Mr. Bodin's caregivers Elaine, Jimmy, and Mindy for their extraordinary care and compassion. A gathering of family and friends will be Tuesday from 4:30 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd, in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 6:00 PM Tuesday.
