Lafayette - Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 13, 2007, at Christ Gospel Church, in Lafayette, for Howard Pierre "Pete" Broussard, Sr., 78, who died on Wednesday, July 11, 2007 at his residence in Cecilia.
Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.
Rev. Kenneth Daugherty will conduct the funeral service.
Mr. Broussard was a veteran of the Korean Conflict having served as a Boatswain in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the V.F.W. and the Breaux Bridge Saddle Club. He had a love for horses as well as being very gifted in working with them. Playing pool was one of his favorite pastimes, along with gardening.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Theriot Broussard, of Cecilia; three sons, Howard "Pete" Broussard, Jr. and his companion, Beverly Tassin, of Breaux Bridge, Dana A. Broussard and his fiance, Angella Blaze, of Cecilia, and Richard J. Broussard and his wife, Jodi, of Breaux Bridge; three daughters, Bonnie M. Broussard Hunt and her husband, Andrew, Sr., of Indiana, Debra A. Broussard Hunt and her husband, Tim, Sr., and Teresa A. Broussard LeBlanc and her husband, Donald, Jr., all of Cecilia; one brother, William J. "Tom" Broussard, Jr., of Cecilia; three sisters, May LeBlanc, of Breaux Bridge, Ivy Lou Richard, of Port Arthur, TX, and Louella Boudin, of Groves, TX; 17 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William, Sr., and Martha Guidry Broussard; and five brothers, Larkin, Percy, Irving, Sr., Andrew, and Ivan Broussard.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home in Breaux Bridge from 4:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 12, 2007 and continue at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, July 13, 2007 until time of service.
Pallbearers will be his three sons, Pete, Dana, and Richard Broussard, and his three sons-in-law, Andrew Hunt, Sr., Tim Hunt, Sr., and Donald LeBlanc, Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be his six grandsons.
The family would like to give special thanks to Jolane Doucet, R.N., Dr. R. Rivet, volunteers of Hospice of Acadiana, Rev. and Mrs. Kenneth Daugherty, and to all family and friends, for their care and support.
