New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Thursday, August 23, 2012 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in New Iberia for Howard L. Lasseigne, 83, who died Monday, August 20, 2012 in New Iberia. Entombment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery, with Military honors by the New Iberia VFW Post 1982. Rev. Mark Derise will be the Celebrant. A gathering of family and friends will be Wednesday from 4:30 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd, in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM Wednesday. Visitation will continue Thursday from 8:00 AM until 10:30 AM. Born on March 20, 1929, Mr. Lasseigne worked in the oilfield for over 30 years, and also worked as a greeter at Ryan's Steakhouse. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he enjoyed working crossword puzzles, watching CMT and EWTN, however his greatest pleasure was taking care of his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his son, David Lasseigne and fiance' Margo Nix of New Iberia; daughters, Connie Lasseigne of New Iberia, JoEllen Bourque and husband Paul of New Iberia; sister, Marion Miller of Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Jarrett Lasseigne and wife Claire of Youngsville, Dewayne Bourque of Kansas, Ashley Meaux and husband Lance of Baton Rouge; 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Louviere Lasseigne; father, Lionel Lasseigne; mother, Corrine Broussard Lasseigne; brothers, Nolan Lasseigne, Chester Lasseigne, Elton Lasseigne, Allen Lasseigne; sister, Verna Landry. Pallbearers include David Lasseigne, Jarett Lasseigne, Mark Sargent, Paul Pritchard, Mike Domingue, Glenn Darby, and Dewayne Bourque.
