Howard Louviere

St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am, on Wednesday, August 8, 2012, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville, for Howard Joseph Louviere, 80, who passed away on Monday, August 6, 2012, at St. Martinville Rehab & Nursing Center. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 11:00 am until 10:00 pm on Tuesday and continue at 7:00 am until 10:30 am on Wednesday. A rosary will be recited by Fr. Jose at 7:00 pm on Tuesday. Rev. Rusty P. Richard will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Paige Sieber and Mandy Blanchard. Gift Bearers will be Aubrie Smith, Alaya Castellano, and Kira Barras. Interment will follow at St. Michael Mausoleum in St. Martinville. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Louviere was employed by Breauxs Bay Craft in Loreauville, where he worked as a welder. He was actively involved in his community and a member of the Knights of Columbus serving as Grand Knight for 2 years. Howard was extremely humbled and honored to be a recipient of the Civic Award from the Lions Club. As a pastime, he enjoyed gardening, raising rabbits, and was actively involved with the 4-H Club organization for numerous years, but his greatest joy in life was spending time with his family. Howard was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and a friend to many, who will be sorrowfully missed by everyone who knew and loved him. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Sidney Albert Louviere of Coteau Holmes; his son, Mark Louviere and companion, Sonya, of Scott; three daughters, Melanie LeBlanc and husband, Wilfred, of Duson, Melinda Sieber and husband, Alton, of St. Martinville, and Margot Patin and husband, Pat, of Parks; his brother, Alton Louviere and wife, Emily, of Loreauville; his sister, Mabel Sonnier of St. Martinville; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Bertin and Clara Verret Louviere; four brothers, Anatole, Sterling, Daniel, and Nolan Louviere; and three sisters, Amenthe Albert, Viola Romero, and Yolande Greig. Pallbearers will be Mark Louviere, Mark Louviere, Jr., Blake Louviere, Hayden Louviere, Mitch Blanchard, and Alton Sieber. Honorary pallbearers will be Pat Patin, Wilfred LeBlanc, Torey Smith, Abe Smith, Michael Blanchard, Aaron Cook, Jason McGee, Kirk Barras, and Mark Smith. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Martin Nursing Home and Southern Care Hospice for their care and compassion, especially Shawanna Jones, Brandi Edwards, and Sarah Williams.
