Henderson - Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Friday, September 28, 2007, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Henderson, for Howard Wayne Pontiff, 60, who passed away on Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at University Medical Center in Lafayette.
Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Cecilia.
Rev. Dismus Mauk, will conduct the service.
Mr. Pontiff enjoyed baseball, bowling and spending time with his family and friends. ?He expressed himself through his great sense of humor while the laughter of others brought him tremendous joy. ?He coached all of his children in baseball.
Survivors include his wife, Celeste L. Pontiff, of Henderson; his mother, Ann Pontiff, of Lafayette; three sons, Brian K. Pontiff, of Lafayette, Nathan Howard Pontiff, of Carencro, and Mickey H. Pontiff, of Henderson; one daughter, Toni Landry and husband, Shannon, of Broussard; two brothers, Alex ""T.B."" Granger, of Carencro, and Louis Guidry and wife, Betty, of Memphis, TN; and nine grandchildren, Dustin Pontiff, Angelic Landry, Lauren Pontiff, Dylan Pontiff, Brandon Landry, Kaliegh Pontiff, Cara Delcambre, Brittany Landry, and McKenzie Landry.
He was preceded in death by his father, Eddie Granger; his step father, M. L. Guidry; one son, Nicholas W. Pontiff; and two sisters, Liz Fabacher and Lena A. Guidry.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 10:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. on Thursday and continue at 7:00 a.m. on Friday until time of service.
A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Pallbearers will be Louis Guidry, Brian Pontiff, Nathan Pontiff, Alex ""T.B."" Granger, Dustin Pontiff, and Shane Fabacher.
Honorary pallbearers will be Clovis LeBlanc, Roy LeBlanc, Mickey Pontiff, Brandon Landry, and Dylan Pontiff.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Kelly Babineaux for the care and compassion she gave to him and his family.
