Catahoula- A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1:30 pm on Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at St. Rita Catholic Church for Ida Blanchard Trautman, 72, who passed away on December 14, 2022 at her home.
A visitation will take place at Dion Hall in Catahoula on Tuesday from 8:30 am until 1:00 pm. A rosary will be prayed at 11:00 am.
Rev. Bill Melancon will officiate the funeral mass. Readers will be Jade Barras, Amber Dupuis-Lane, and Simone Dupuis. Interment will follow at Our Lady of the Lake Cemetery in Catahoula.
Ida Blanchard Trautman was born January 17, 1950 in St. Martinville. During her life, Ida cherished spending time with her family and loved cooking for them. She also enjoyed reading, listening to music, and laughing. A natural teacher and devout Catholic, she taught Catechism for decades at St. Rita and St Martin de Tours churches. After working at Coast to Coast hardware store for nearly twenty years, she spent her later years working her "dream job" as a paraprofessional at Catahoula Elementary and St. Martin Primary schools. Ida was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and will be missed deeply by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Glynn Trautman Sr.; children, Danita Dupuis (Larry), Meghan Trautman, Glynn Trautman Jr. (Laura), and Jared Trautman; grandchildren, Jade Barras (Chase), Amber Dupuis-Lane (Jonathan), Simone Dupuis, and Cole Boudreaux; great-grandchildren, Eliana Barras, Lucah Richard, Juliana Barras, and Jeanne Lane; and her siblings, Roy Blanchard (Annie), Della Dupuis, Carol Russo, Louise Bergeron (Clevens), Wilmer "Jun" Blanchard, and Loula Dunlap (Terry).
She is preceded in death by her parents, Wilmer and Mae Blanchard, and her siblings, Sonja Blanchard, Kathy Patin, Camille Blanchard, and Beulah Punch.
Pallbearers will be Glynn Trautman, Jr., Jared Trautman, Larry Dupuis, Chase Barras, Jonathan Lane, and Cole Boudreaux. Honorary pallbearer will be Simone Dupuis.
