New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Saturday, July 6, 2013 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in New Iberia for Iona Pellerin Rochon, 90.
Entombment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery.
Rev. Mark Derise will be the Celebrant.
A gathering of family and friends will be Saturday from 8:00 AM until 9:30 AM at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 8:30 AM Saturday. ; ;
Iona Pellerin Rochon was born on March 5, 1923, in Verdunville, Louisiana to Frances Francois Pellerin and Lawrence Pellerin, Sr. She was united in marriage with Thomas H. Rochon, Sr. on June 11, 1940 in Franklin, Louisiana. She passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at 1:00 AM in New Iberia, Louisiana. Her hobbies included traveling, zydeco music and dancing. She had a deep love for all children, but especially her grandchildren who always brought a smile to her face.
She is survived by her children, James Ralph Rochon and wife Sylvia of Carencro, Evelyn R. Broussard of New Iberia, Kathleen R. DeRouen and husband Tyrone of Youngsville, Sharon R. Pellerin and husband J.R. of Lake Charles, Jules Vernon Rochon and wife Maria of San Antonio, Texas, Thomas H. Rochon, Jr., and wife Jonie of New Iberia; daughter-in-law, Bertha Rochon of New Iberia; four brothers, Percy Harry Pellerin, Charles Pellerin, Ronald Pellerin, Sr., and Guy Pellerin, Sr.; two sisters, Etta Pellerin Smith, and Blanche Pellerin; 14 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Thomas H. Rochon, Sr.; parents, Lawrence Pellerin, Sr., and Frances Francois Pellerin; a son, Clyde S. Rochon; infant sons, Calvin M. Rochon, and Thomas Gary Rochon; son-in-law, John E. Broussard, Sr.; granddaughter, Yolanda R. Broussard; five brothers, and two sisters.
