Irene Patt Barras

St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 5, 2020, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville for Irene Patt Barras, 87, who passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2020. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Notre Dame Catholic Church from 7:00 am until 10:45 am on Saturday. A rosary will be prayed at 8:30 am on Saturday. Rev. Abelardo Gabriel SVD will officiate at the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery in St. Martinville. She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Barras (Rodney) Savoy of Lafayette, LA; six sons, Ronald B. (Rose) Barras Sr. of Killeen, TX, Wendell R. (Marlene) Barras Sr. of Houston, TX, James D. (Donna) Barras of Atlanta, GA, Gerald T. Barras, Sr. of St. Martinville, George T. Barras, Sr. of St. Martinville and Daniel James of Atlanta, GA; two daughter-in-laws, Janice Jacquet Barras and Marcy Clara Barras Chretien; brother, Lennis Phillips, Sr.; five sisters, Margaret Patt Alexander, Viola Phillips, Hilda Phillips, Irma Phillips and Ida Phillips; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Barras, Sr.; parents, William "Pop Bill" and Olivia Bernard Patt; three sons, Horace Barras, John Paul Barras, III and Donald Barras; and one daughter, Sandra Barras James. Pallbearers will be Jeremy Barras, Wednall Barras Jr., Bernard Barras, Quincy James, Ronald Barras Jr. and Ryan Barras. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronald B. Barras Sr., Wendell R. Barras Sr., James D. Barras, Gerald T. Barras Sr., George T. Barras Sr., Daniel James, Rodney J. Savoy Sr., Larry Domingue and Russell Alexander.
