St. Martinville - Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., on Saturday, November 15, 2008, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville for Irene Vincent Duplantis, 85, who passed away on Thursday, November 13, 2008 at her residence in St. Martinville.
Entombment will follow at St. Michael Mausoleum in St. Martinville.
Msgr. J. Douglas Courville will officiate at the funeral Mass. Scripture readings will be read by Danielle and Emily Duplantis and gifts will be presented to the Altar by Rebecca LeBlanc, Rachael Poirier, and Pamela Krueger, her granddaughters.
Mrs. Duplantis was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed nurturing her family and was always concerned about their needs. She was a wonderful cook who put a lot of love into her meals for her family to enjoy. She loved to sew and read, but she mostly loved spending time with her family, along with providing them with wonderful and attentive care whenever they needed.
Survivors include her loving husband of 66 years, Howard Joseph Duplantis, of St. Martinville; four sons, Richard Duplantis and his wife, Pauline, Raymond Duplantis, Ronald Tony Duplantis and his fiance, Kelly Hollier, and Randy Duplantis and his wife, Dana; one daughter, Roberta Landry and her husband, Reynolds; all of St. Martinville; one brother, John Hampton Vincent, of Milton; one sister, Elaine Faulk, of Abbeville; ten grandchildren, Pamela Krueger, Michael Duplantis, Aaron Duplantis, Danielle Duplantis, Jeffrey Duplantis, Emily Duplantis, Rebecca LeBlanc, Rachael Poirier, Ross Landry, and Justin Duplantis; and two great grandchildren, William and Matthew Krueger.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Advey and Beulah Hebert Vincent.
The family requested that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home in New Iberia from 2:30 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Friday and continue at 8 a.m. until 12 noon on Saturday.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Friday evening.
Pallbearers will be her five grandsons, Ross Landry, Michael, Aaron, Jeffrey, and Justin Duplantis, and Pat Krueger.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jacques LeBlanc, Kyle Poirier, and Alicia Duplantis.
