Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, January 4, 2021, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge for Irene Degeyter LeBlanc, 63, who passed away on Friday, January 1, 2021, at Lafayette General Medical Center.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Sunday and will continue on Monday at 8:00 am until 9:30 am.
A rosary will be prayed at 6:00 pm on Sunday.
Rev. Bill Melancon will officiate at the Mass of Christian Burial.
Interment will follow at St. Bernard Mausoleum - No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.
Irene was born February 7, 1957 in Breaux Bridge. She was a devout Catholic and always prayed the rosary. She enjoyed playing Pokeno, Bingo, doing arts and crafts and Mardi Gras festivities. Irene loved her family. Whether if she was watching her son play music, visiting with her daughter or playing with her grandchildren, she cherished her time spent with them. She will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her daughter, Brittney LeBlanc (Beno) Guidry; son, Blasien (Shelbe) LeBlanc; grandchildren, Lola Grace Guidry, Andi Kate Guidry, Lila Grace, and baby LeBlanc on the way; aunt, Mary Melancon; two sisters, Vicki Garcia (Bill) and Donna Hamm; and brother, Ricky Degeyter (Barbara).
She was preceded in death by her mother, Hazel Marie Degeyter; maternal grandmother, Louise Melancon; and one brother, Danny Degeyter.
