St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Saturday, November 6, 2021, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville for Iris Robertson, 80, who passed away on Monday, November 1, 2021, at The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice in Lafayette.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Notre Dame Catholic Church from 7:00 am until the time of Mass on Saturday.
A rosary will be prayed at 8:00 am on Saturday.
Rev. Abelardo Gabriel, SVD will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Readers will be Patsy Robertson and Dora Bruno.
Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery in St. Martinville.
Iris was a devout Catholic and parishioner of Notre Dame Catholic Church. She was an avid football fan, but she especially loved the Saints. Iris enjoyed going to the casino with her husband, Alfred, and she loved listening to music. Iris' cooking was the best around and it will surely be missed by many. Her grandchildren thoroughly enjoyed her spaghetti and chili. Iris was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Alfred Robertson, Sr.; son, Alfred Robertson, Jr. (Patsy); daughter, Rachel Moore (Carl); sisters, Laura Alexander and Linda Maul; brother, Cassidy Kately, Sr.; grandchildren, Chanelle Moore, Apryl Moore, Lyle Robertson and Emanuel Narcisse; great-grandchild, Karter Moore; brother-in-law, Larry LaRue; and godchildren, Lisa Alexander, Angel Melody, and Shone Faulk.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond Kately and Mazel Filer Kately; sister, Mary Lee LaRue; brother, Benedict Kately; and sister-in-law, Mildred Kately.
Pallbearers will be Emanuel Narcisse, Kaleb Michael Thorne, Justin Kately Alexander, Raymond Kately, Ashley Thomas, and Lyle Robertson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jason Fleageance, Morris Thomas, Sr., Cassidy Kately, Sr., Carl Moore, Kevin Bowser, and Shone Faulk.
Pellerin Funeral Home (337-332-2111) is in charge of arrangements.
