Irma Gary Bodin

Rynella - A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 pm, on Saturday, April 11, 2015, at St. Marcellus Catholic Church in Rynella, for Irma Theresa Gary Bodin, 78, who passed away on Wednesday, April 8, 2015, at AMG Specialty Hospital. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Friday, and continue on Saturday at 8:00 am until 11:30 am. A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 pm on Friday and at 10 am on Saturday. Reverend Eugene Tremie will officiate at the Funeral Service. Scriptures will be read by Theresa Hurston and Gloria B. Young Helmstetter. Gift bearers will be Kristi T. Landry and Mindy G. Duplantis. Interment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery in New Iberia. Irma worked at Bruce Foods and also as a clerk at Rudy Cleaners. She also enjoyed making quilts for all of her children, scrapbooking, sewing, crafting and was very interested in genealogy. Irma was involved with the Cajun French Music Association, a past member of the St. Annes Altar Society at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, and also a member of Les Familles Bodin", which is their family genealogy group. She is survived by her son, Howard J. Bodin, Jr. and his wife Gail of Broussard; daughters, Theresa Hurston of Lafayette, Elaine Gary and husband Jimmie of Youngsville, Gloria B. Young Helmstetter and her husband Glenn of Baton Rouge, Linda Tullier and her husband Mike of New Iberia and Tammy Scelfo and her husband Paul of Lafayette; sisters, Elsie Derouen of New Iberia and Uvie Toups and her husband Emery Toups of Independence, LA; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Howard J. Bodin, Sr.; parents, Simon and Carmelite Gary; brothers, Minus P. Gary and Asee Gary; sisters, Agnes Suire and Gorsey Gary; great-grandson, Matthew Gary; and son-in-law, Tony Young. Pallbearers will be Howard J. Bodin Jr., Paul Scelfo, Glenn Helmstetter, Joseph Gary Jr., George Bodin and Todd Landry. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Tullier, Jimmie Gary and Larry Bodin. The family would like to give special thanks to her caregivers at Maison de Lafayette, especially Anne Redmond and Sonya Jackson, and to the medical staff at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital and AMG Specialty Hospital.
