Irvin William Sherwood

Denham Springs - Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at Evergreen Memorial Park in Denham Springs for Irvin William Sherwood, 78, who passed away on Friday, April 14, 2017, in New Iberia. A gathering of family and friends will be Tuesday from 10:00 AM until 8:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. Additional visiting will be Wednesday from 10:00 AM until 12:30 PM at Seale Funeral Home in Denham Springs. A longtime resident of New Iberia, Mr. Sherwood was born on January 31, 1939 to the late Johnnie and Beatrice Hodge Sherwood, and worked in heavy construction as a dragline operator. He always had a very positive attitude and enjoyed camping, fishing, and most of all spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include his daughters, Debbie Neisser and husband Darrell of New Iberia, Sherry Maturin and husband Billy of Lafayette; sons, Gerald Sherwood of Youngsville, Gary Sherwood and wife Cheryl of Carencro; grandchildren, Shantel Sherwood, Casey Maturin, Brent Sherwood, Justin Neisser, Meagan Bourgeois, Sarah Sherwood, Sean Lavergne, Cameron Lavergne, Gabriel Lavergne; 15 great grandchildren; and a brother, Mitchell Sherwood and wife Joan of Squaw Valley, CA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Wayne Sherwood; grandson, Coby Maturin; brothers, Johnnie K. Sherwood, Bobby Sherwood, Earl Sherwood; sister, Margie Sherwood; and his former wife, Joyce Sherwood.
