New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, on Tuesday, March 17, 2009, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in New Iberia, for Irving Paul LeBlanc, Sr., 75, who died on Saturday, March 14, 2009 in Lafayette with his loving family by his side.
Entombment will follow in the Holy Family Mausoleum.
Rev. Mark Derise will be the Celebrant. Tiffany Lane Turner and Blake Kristopher LeBlanc will proclaim the readings. Gift Bearers include Justin Paul Guillotte and Hannah Anne' Guillotte.
Born on January 20, 1934, Irving is a native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, and is retired from the Iberia Parish Sheriff Department with over 20 years of service. A member of the Knights of Columbus Council 3425, he was an usher at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, and was a Little League and Softball umpire for many years.
Irving was a loving father who had a strong faith and instilled his love of God and the Church in his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include his son, Irving P. "Buddy" LeBlanc, Jr. and wife Regi of Houston; daughters, Katherine L. Guillotte and husband Kirk of New Iberia, Gwen Jumonville and husband Henry of New Iberia; brother, Kelly J. LeBlanc and wife Thelmatoye of New Iberia; grandchildren, Tiffany Lane Turner of New Iberia, Blake Kristopher LeBlanc and wife Sarah of Houston, Justin Paul Guillotte of New Iberia, Hannah Anne' Guillotte of New Iberia; step granddaughter, Leslie Talbot of Valley View, Texas; great grandchild, Aurora B. LeBlanc; step great grandchildren, Gage, Kaden, Cristian, and Le'Liany.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Mary Lou LeDoux LeBlanc; parents, Alma and Elia Labit LeBlanc; siblings, Hilda LeBlanc Dugan and Joseph E. LeBlanc.
Pallbearers include Irving P. LeBlanc, Jr., Henry Jumonville, Kirk Guillotte, Justin Guillotte, Blake LeBlanc, and David Wayne Romero.
Honorary pallbearer will be Kelly LeBlanc.
A gathering of family and friends will be Monday from 2:30 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd, in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM Monday. Visitation will continue Tuesday from 8:00 AM until 9:30 AM.
