Ivan John Viator, Sr.

St. Martinville - Funeral services will be held at 9:00 a.m., Thursday, August 17, 2006, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville for Ivan John "P.G." Viator, Sr., 72, who died Sunday, August 13, 2006 at Iberia General Medical Center. Interment will be in St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville. Mr. Viator was a founding member and coach of the St. Martinville Midget League Football and was a summer baseball coach. He was also a founding member of the St. Martinville Fourth of July Commission. He was a very active parishioner and volunteer at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church. He was a member of the SPC/CHS Alumni Association and an honorary member of the Jaycee's. He enjoyed carpentry, gardening and being with his family and friends. Survivors include his wife, Audrey Akers Viator of St. Martinville; two sons, Ivan J. "Sonny" Viator, Jr. and his wife, Michelle of St. Martinville and Brent F. Viator of New Iberia; and five grandchildren, Brian F. Viator of St. Martinville, Gail V. Estis and her husband, Ryan of New Iberia, Patience M. Viator, D'Arcie A. Viator, and Marion A. Viator, all of St. Martinville. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fernest and Anaise Reaux Viator; his daughter, Angela Marie Viator; and his brother, Abel Viator. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 9:30 a.m. ~ 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday and continue at 7:00 a.m. on Thursday until time of service. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening. Pallbearers will be Ivan "Sonny" Viator, Jr., Brent Viator, Brian Viator, James Akers, Donnie Akers, and Allen Rodriguez. Honorary pallbearers will be Pat Weathersby, Dennis Mestayer, Tommy "T" Thibodeaux, and Ryan Estis. Memorial donations may be made in his name to Catholic High of New Iberia, or to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston St., Ste. 200, Lafayette, LA 70503 Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville is in charge of arrangements.
