VIEW VIDEO TRIBUTE New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in New Iberia for J. Irving Paw East, Sr., 81, who died Sunday, May 3, 2009 at his residence. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. Salvino Ruben Primor will be the Celebrant. Readers will be his granddaughters, Devin East and Stephanie Green. Gift bearers will be his daughters, Joan LaBarge and Patty Green. Irving worked as a mechanic for 55 years; for 27 of those years he was considered the air condition specialist of Lafayette Motors and then he continued his expertise as a self employed mechanic. He also served as an usher at Our Lady of Perpetual Help for many years. As a hobby he would spend his weekends working on boat motors at Dauterive Marine. Paw loved watching his french music video and spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Elina Barras East; his sons, Joseph I. Joe East, Jr. and wife Debbie Viator East, John R. East and wife Sandi Bonin East, all of New Iberia, Orrin P. East and wife Denise Trimble East of Loreauville; his daughters, Joan East LaBarge and husband Russell of New Iberia and Patty East Green and husband Morgan of Youngsville; his brother, Lawrence East and wife Dorothy of Broussard; his grandchildren, Ryan East, Shaney East, Kyle East, Devin East, Ron Viator, Stephanie Green, Nichole East Lowe, and Jessica East; his great grandchildren, Jenna Lowe and Hayden Lowe. He was preceded in death by his parents, Whitney and Beulah Borel East; father and mother in law, Sidney J. and Lorina Reaux Barras; sisters, Thelma East Simon and Mary Lou East LeBlanc; niece, Patricia LeBlanc Vincent. Pallbearers will be Ryan East, Shaney East, Ron Viator, Kyle East, Joe East, John East, Orrin East and Morgan Green. Honorary pallbearers will be Phillip Barras, Dwayne Delahoussaye and Terry Credeur. The extraordinary and compassionate care given to Paw during his final days by Hospice of Acadiana and Acadiana Home Health is greatly appreciated. A special thank you goes to the nurses of Acadiana Home Health: Tricia, Mitzi, Suzanne, Pam and Felicia; Hospice of Acadiana nurses and doctor: Jenny, Yvette, Carolyn and Dr. LaHasky and to Dr. Sagrera for all the years he cared for our dad, Thank You! In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston Street, Suite 200, Lafayette, LA 70503. A gathering of family and friends will be Monday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd, in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM Monday.
