Jack A. Hunter

April 12, 1961 — March 18, 2007

New Iberia - A celebration of life will be held Wednesday, March 21, 2007, at 10:00 AM at St. Peter Catholic Church, in New Iberia, for Jack Albert Hunter, 45, who passed away Sunday, March 18, 2007, at his residence after a courageous battle with cancer. At the time of his passing, he was surrounded by his loving family. Interment will follow in Beau Pre Cemetery. The Rev. Jude A. Halphen will serve as Celebrant. Jack was a native and lifelong resident of New Iberia. He attended Catholic High School and received a diploma from New Iberia Senior High in 1979. Early in his career, Jack worked with Otis Engineering, Halliburton, Continuous Tubing Services, and Schlumberger. He was currently employed by Coil Tubing Services, of which he was a founding partner. Jack, an avid LSU fan, was a member of the Tiger Athletic Foundation. Mr. Hunter a lifelong outdoorsman was an avid fisherman, hunter, and gardener. He took great pleasure cultivating his small orchid, and farm. Known for his wit and good humor, Jack was kind, loving, and generous to all who knew him. He was a loving husband, father, uncle and friend to many. He enjoyed spending time with his family, whom he adored. Survivors include his beloved wife of 26 years, Sandy Rider Hunter; daughter, Megan Elizabeth Hunter of New Orleans; four brothers, George John Hunter of Loreauville, James Philip Hunter of Lafayette, William Charles Hunter of Cade, Warren Nelson Hunter of Victoria, Texas; two sisters, Katie Saale of Richmond, Texas, Carla Dworaczyk of New Iberia; nieces and nephews, Jeff Hunter, Kelly Cini, Beau Hunter, Aimee Pruitt, Stephanie Hunter, Zachary Hunter, Charles Hunter, Michael Hunter, Brandy Bernard, Justin Dworaczyk, Micah Dworaczyk, Erin Dworaczyk, Jessica Carline, Jennifer Carline, Trey Fowler, Madeline Fowler; great nieces and nephews, Grace Hunter, Philip Cini, Joseph Cini, Sylvia Cini, Mia Pruitt, Hunter Pruitt; Jack's in laws, Cyrus and Gloria Rider of New Iberia; sister-in-law, Karen Fowler and husband Larry G. Fowler, Jr. of New Iberia; step mother, Carolyn B. Grigsby. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Nelson Hunter and Rita Mae Thibodeaux Hunter; grandparents, Philip and Nellie Hunter; one brother, Ted Joseph Hunter, and one nephew Matthew Hunter. A gathering of family and friends will be Tuesday, from 4:30 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd., in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM Tuesday. Visitation will continue Wednesday from 8:00 AM until time of service. Honored to serve as pallbearers will be George John Hunter, James Philip Hunter, William Charles Hunter, Warren Nelson Hunter, Larry Gayle Fowler, Jr. and Wilson Bayard. Honorary pallbearers will be Cyrus Rider, Paul Hebert, Trey Fowler, Charles Hunter, Michael Hunter, Zachary Hunter, John Ackal, and Marty LeJeune. The family would like to give special thanks to MD Anderson Cancer Center, Drs. Howard Colman, Robert LaHasky, Andrew Clarke, AAA Hospice, Julie Abshire, Lynda Innes, Tiny Loston, the administration, staff, and employees of Coil Tubing Services, and the Catholic High School Class of 1979.
