Jack Picard, Jr.

Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at St. Bernard Catholic Church for Jack Picard, Jr., 78, who passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at The Carpenter House in Lafayette.

A visitation will take place at the funeral home in Breaux Bridge on Friday from 11:30 am until 9:00 pm. It will continue on Saturday from 8:00 am until 9:30 am. 

A Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Friday evening by Deacon Marcel "Butch" Hebert.

Father Blake Dubroc will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Readers will be Joey Picard and Brinnslee Picard. Gift bearers will be Aven Mae, Jacqueline, Anna Bella, Evangeline, Jack, Ellen, Madeline and Jean Paul. 

Interment will follow at St. Bernard Mausoleum - No. 2. 

Jack was the dedicated owner and operator of La Petite Ecole Daycare for 24 years. His genuine care for little ones, providing a safe and nurturing environment, earned him the admiration and gratitude of countless families. Prior to his work at the daycare, he was an accomplished welding supervisor and instructor, he spent 15 years teaching and overseeing operations at the Port of Iberia. 

Jack served his country honorably in the United States Navy for eight years during the Vietnam Era. 

Outside of work, Jack possessed a love for adventure and exploration. He earned his pilot's license and delighted in taking flights with his brothers. Jack's remarkable talent for woodworking allowed him to create beautiful pieces, and he often used his skills to remodel his own home. In his downtime, he found joy in watching ancient alien and Bigfoot movies.

Jack was a devoted parishioner at St. Bernard Catholic Church. For 21 years, he faithfully attended Holy Hour, finding solace and spiritual strength through prayer and reflection. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. 

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Esaure "Mimi" Picard; daughter, Jill Marie Picard; son, Johnny Picard; sisters-in-law, Irene Friedman Picard and Mary Sanders Picard; grandchildren, Christopher Jake Graham, Courtney Thomassee Kidder, Brinnslee Reese Picard, Zack Eaton, Julia Eaton and William Eaton. 

He is preceded in death by his son, Jack Picard, III; daughter, Susan Pinkerton-Eaton; grandchild, Cameron-Jack Picard; parents, Jacque Picard, Sr. and Idalie Thibodeaux Picard; and brothers, Lawrence Picard and Lee Joseph Picard. 

Pallbearers will be Dustin Blanchard, John Blanchard, Jed Picard, Larry Taylor, Jake Graham and Larry Picard.
