James 'Pop' Henry Bezold Jr.

Cecilia - A Funeral Service will be held at 4:00 pm on Thursday, October 26, 2017, at Pellerin Funeral Home in Cecilia for James "Pop" Henry Bezold, Jr., 79, who passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2017, at Lafayette General Medical Center. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 11:00 am until 4:00 pm on Thursday. Pastor Richard Meche will officiate the Funeral Service. Interment will be held at a later date at the Louisiana National Cemetery in Zachary, Louisiana. Mr. Bezold was a veteran of the Vietnam War, honorably serving his country in the United States Army for 25 years, as a member of the 196th Infantry Brigade. During his enlistment, he was stationed at many bases throughout the United States and abroad including; Texas, Fort Polk, Massachusetts, and Germany. During his military career, Mr. Bezold was also involved in facilitating many youth organized sports that the children were involved in. He was a member of several organizations which included being a sponsor for the Girl and Boy Scouts of America and he served as a 4th Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus. Most of all, "Pop", as his family would call him, cherished moments spent with the ones he loved. He was the one who you would find being the life of the party, dancing, and joking around. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Bucchi Bezold of Cecilia; his sons, James Henry Bezold, III and wife Yolanda of San Marcos, TX and John Henry Bezold and wife Lucinda "Lucy" of Scott, LA; his daughters, Kathleen Yanke of Arnaudville, LA, Carolyn Bezold of Cecilia, LA, Nancy Cummins of Cecilia, LA, and Donna Crochet and husband Christopher of Arnaudville, LA; 12 grandchildren, Kristopher, Patricia, Jason, Jessica, Simon, Jean Louis, James Jose', Ian Michael, Mary Kathryn, Lilly Rene, Jimmy, and Sandra; 10 great grandchildren, Alexis, Hailee, Trevor, Hannah, Emma, Hunter, Mason, Greycen, Austin, Reygan, and 1 on-the-way; and a very special friend, Rhonda Louis. He was preceded in death by his father, James Henry Bezold, Sr.; his mother, Anna Mae Foley Bezold; and brothers, David, Francis, and Raymond Bezold. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
