New Iberia – Private services were held for James L. Bott, 85, who passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2020, at Lafayette General Hospital in Lafayette, LA.
A resident of New Iberia, Mr. Bott was born on October 28, 1935, in Darnell, Louisiana to the late Ruben and Irene Yates Bott. James was a Veteran of the United States Army and a graduate of the University of Alabama, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering. He was employed by Halliburton Services in Harvey and Morgan City until his retirement. James enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife Ella Mae Dubois Bott of New Iberia; son, James David Bott (Lainie) of Cumming, Georgia; 2 stepdaughters: JoElla Dore Richardson (Michael) of Lafayette, LA and Vicki Dore Cuccia (Russell) of New Iberia; 2 brothers: Ruben Burnell Bott (Frances) of Pensacola, FL and William Franklin Bott (Diana) of Bossier City, LA, and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Barbara Ann Wright & Sue Carolyn Bedsole; 3 brothers, Charles Kenneth, Darvin Ray, and Tommy Harold Bott; his stepson, Rodney James Dore; his grandson, Master Sergeant Shane Michael Richardson, and his great grandson, Nathanael August Rebstock.
