New Iberia ;- A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, on Tuesday, December 30, 2008, at St. Peter Catholic Church in New Iberia, for J.B. Deshotels, Sr., 94, who passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2008 in New Iberia. ; Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. ; Rev. Charles Langlois will be the Celebrant. Readers and Gift Bearers include Jenee Deshotels Wells, Matthew Deshotels, Paul Wells, and Mandy Deshotels. ; Born on January 1, 1914 in Washington, LA., Mr. Deshotels was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp, having served during World War II. He worked 20 years for Railroad Express, and then as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 27 years. A lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1208 and an usher at St. Peter Catholic Church, he enjoyed reading, playing bingo, and fishing. ; Survivors include son, Jim Deshotels, Jr. and wife Kathy of New Iberia; grandchildren, Jenee Deshotels Wells and husband Paul of Morganza, LA., Matthew Deshotels and wife Mandy of Grenada, MS; great granddaughter, Anna Katherine Wells; step great granddaughter, Kaitlyn Wells. ; He was preceded in death by his parents, Jean Baptiste Deshotels and Marie Ophelia Pitre Deshotels; wife, Rose Deshotels; brothers, Clarence Deshotels, Francis Deshotels; sister, Rose Deshotels Guillory. ; Pallbearers will be Matthew Deshotels, Paul Wells, Williams Boles, Joe Lee Boles, Larry Migues, and Floyd Courvelle. ; A gathering of family and friends will be Monday from 4:30 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd, in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM Monday.
