Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm on Monday, November 19, 2018, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge for James Earlis Doucet , 84, who passed away on Friday, November 16, 2018, at The Carpenter House St. Joseph Hospice.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 10:30 am until 1:00 pm on Monday.
A rosary will be prayed at 12:00 pm on Monday by Deacon Butch Hebert.
Rev. Garrett McIntyre will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Readers will be Tatum Dore' and Lacey Stevenson. Gift Bearers will be Arianna Stevenson, Susan Dore', and Bridget Boudreaux.
Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.
James honorably served his country during the Korean War as a nurse. He enjoyed fishing, dancing, woodworking, picking pecans, going to the casino, and working in his garden. Spending time with his family and friends made his life complete. He will be remembered for his kindness, unconditional love, and all the wonderful things made with wood that he gave as gifts to each of them.
He is survived by his companion, Margaret Duplechien of Cecilia; son, Craige Doucet and wife Rose of Butte LaRose; daughter, Sheryl Boudreaux; grandchildren, Bridget B. Theriot, Susan D. Dore' and spouse Derek, Brannon Boudreaux, Justin Doucet, and Lacey Stevenson and spouse Terry; great grandchildren, Alex Theriot, Gavin Theriot, Noah Theriot, Tatum Dore', Tristan Dore', Riley Doucet, Arianna Stevenson, and Trae Stevenson.
He was preceded in death by his wife Gloria Cole, father, Wilfred Doucet, mother, Alice Quebedeaux, sisters, Gary Mae Biri and Ellen Quebedeaux.
Pallbearers will be Brannon Boudreaux, Justin Doucet, Alex Theriot, Gavin Theriot, Noah Theriot, and Derek Dore'.
Honorary pallbearers will be Craige Doucet, Kenneth Coulon, and Terry Stevenson.
