St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Saturday, November 9, 2019, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville for James "Jambo" Jacquet, 48, who passed away on Thursday, October 31, 2019, at his home.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Notre Dame Catholic Church from 7:00 am until time of funeral service on Saturday.
A rosary will be prayed at 8:30 am on Saturday.
Rev. Michael Sucharski, SVD will officiate at the Funeral Mass.
Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery in St. Martinville.
James, better known as "Jambo", was born in Lafayette to the late Randolph Jacquet and Barbara Jones Jacquet. He was a linebacker for St. Martinville Sr. High and L.S.U. before joining the United States Army. He enjoyed playing video games and being on his computer. James will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving mother, Barbara Jones Jacquet; son, James Jacquet, Jr.; daughter, Breighlynn Polk; brother, Keith Jacquet and wife Carlette; and his sister, Kila Francis and husband Melvin.
He was preceded in death by his father, Randolph Jacquet; sister, Cora Lee Perry; grandparents, Leola and Ervin Jones, Sr., Florita Jacquet, and Alton Tony Batiste, Sr.; and his uncles, Warren Jones and Ervin Jones, Jr.
Pallbearers will be Avery Vitto, Michael Pete, Kevin Ledet, Shea Lee, De' Marcus Thomas, and Carl Jacobs.
