Leonville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., on Monday, November 12, 2012, , at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church in Leonville, for James 'Jimmy' Johnson, 74, who passed away on Thursday, November 8, 2012, surrounded by his family. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. on Sunday, and continue on Monday at 7 a.m. until 10 a.m., at Pellerin Funeral Home in Cecilia. A rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. on Sunday by Yvonne Breaux. Fr. Kenneth Domingue will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Judy Colley, and Wayne Johnson. Gift Bearers will be Ashley Jones, Kimberly Quebedeaux, and Taylor Perrodin. Entombment will follow at St. Leo the Great Mausoleum in Leonville. Mr. Johnson honorably served his country in the United States Navy. He was known for having a kind and generous heart and his willingness to help anyone in need. He enjoyed riding his lawnmower and playing a good game of Poker. James especially loved being surrounded by his family, friends, and those who knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife, Velma Arnaud Johnson of Cecilia; three daughters, Debra Johnson Noel and her companion, Jerry Brown, of Cecilia, Donna Johnson Roy of Broussard, and Darlene Johnson Jones and spouse, Robert Henry Jones of Broussard; his brother, Gervis Johnson and his wife, Joan Johnson of Metairie; half-brother, Leonard Johnson of Opelousas; his sister, Jean Noel of Cecilia; his sister-in-law, Jenny Johnson of Prairie Rhonde; five grandchildren, Tabatha Noel Miller and her husband, Robert 'Bobby' Miller of Cecilia, Tiffany LeCoq and her husband, Elmo LeCog of Cecilia, Clifford Boyer, III and his wife, Tiffany Weldon Boyer of Broussard, Corey Courville and his companion, Robin Dufrene of Broussard, and Ashley Jones of Broussard; seven great-grandchildren, Kimberly Quebedeaux, Tyler Perrodin, Nathan Boyer, Taylor Perrodin, Gage Quebedeaux, Jarred Courville, and Jolie Boyer; and two godchildren, Judy Colley of Covington, and Wayne Johnson of Katy, TX. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd Bernard and Armentine Bellow Johnson; his brother, Floyd Johnson; and his stepmother, Evelyn Matthews Johnson. Pallbearers will be Robert Henry Jones, Jerry Brown, Clifford Boyer, III, Corey Courville, Wayne Johnson, and Dennis Johnson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Robert 'Bobby' Miller and Elmo LeCog. The family wishes to extend special thanks to Amedisys Hospice Care and their staff: Desiree Derouen, Robert Andrus, Jody Blanchard, Japire 'Pear' Joseph, and Dr. Deidre Stelly, for the compassionate care and attention given to him during his time of need.
