Breaux Bridge - Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., on Thursday, February 25, 2010, at Pellerin Funeral Home Chapel in Breaux Bridge, for James Allen Lajaunie, 79, who passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at St. Martin Hospital.
Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.
Father Louis Allen Breaux will officiate at the funeral service. Scriptures will be read by Zachary Ashy and Suzanne Lajaunie. Gift Bearers will be Colbi Lajaunie and Matthew Lajaunie.
Mr. Lajaunie was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having honorably served his country in the United States Army. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, gardening, cooking, and spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Velma Guidry Lajaunie, of Breaux Bridge; one son, Ricky Lajaunie and his wife, Donna, of Breaux Bridge; one daughter, Stacey Ashy and her husband, Tony, of Lafayette; four grandchildren, Colbi Lajaunie and companion, Leonard LeBlanc, Matthew Lajaunie and wife, Suzanne, Anthony Ashy, and Zachary Ashy; three great grandchildren, Sydnie LeBlanc, Kailey LeBlanc, and Emily LeBlanc; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Pailota Lormand Lajaunie; his brother, Russell Lajaunie; and his sister, Pearl L. Guidry.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 2 p.m. until time 10 p.m. on Wednesday and continue at 8 a.m. until 1:45 p.m. on Thursday.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Lajaunie, Tony Ashy, Anthony Ashy, Nolan Guidry, Patrick Huval, and John Guidry.
Honorary pallbearers will be Zachary Ashy and Ricky Lajaunie.
Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge is in charge of arrangements.
