Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 8, 2017, at St. Bernard Catholic Church for James L. LeBlanc, 80, who passed away peacefully at home with family by his side, on Saturday, February 4, 2017.
Rev. Garrett McIntyre will officiate at the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.
He is survived by his loving spouse, Mary Jane Guidry LeBlanc; son, Ricky LeBlanc and wife Janet; daughters, Sandra DeRouen and husband Robert, and Annette Finch and husband Michael; step son, David Guidry and spouse Ann; step-daughters, Donna Guidry, Diane Huval and spouse Scotty, and Danielle Rhodes and spouse Jacob; sisters, Anna Daspit and husband James, Renella Patin, and JoAnn Latiolais and husband Greg; sister-in-law, Sherry LeBlanc; 3 grandchildren, April Milam and spouse Brandon, Sadie Broussard and spouse Trayton, and Christine Lietz; 11 step-grandchildren, Chase Guidry and spouse Casey, Caleb and Mari Catherine Guidry, Jevin, Lani, Harli and Haili Huval, Jacob and Reagan Trail, and Ethan and Aiden Rhodes; 5 great-grandchildren, Jaci, Bree, and Lucas Milam, and Easton and Paisley Broussard.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sampson and Mabel Gravouia LeBlanc; first wife, Vilia LeBlanc; sons, Alan Todd LeBlanc and Ronald LeBlanc; and brother, Donald LeBlanc.
Upon his graduation from Breaux Bridge High School, James enlisted in the United States Air Force. After four years of active duty, he returned home to Breaux Bridge from Japan. God richly blessed James and his first wife Vilia with five wonderful children. His career included sales positions in the automobile and construction industries, and finally as a landman in the oil and gas industry until his retirement in his early 50s. James and Jane shared almost 15 years of marriage, enjoying many happy times with friends and their expanded family.
James enjoyed wood working, reading and crossword puzzles. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend, and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Acadiana for the kind and loving care that was provided in his final weeks, and in lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in his name to Hospice of Acadiana Foundation, 2600 Johnston Street, Lafayette, Louisiana 70503.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday February 7, and continuing on Wednesday at 8:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday by Deacon Ken Soignier.
