James "Pap" Papillion

St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 3, 2022, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church for James "Pap" Papillion, 55, who passed away on Thursday, November 17, 2022, at his residence.

A visitation will take place at the funeral home in St. Martinville on Saturday, December 3, 2022, from 8:00 am until 10:30 am.

Father Gabriel will officiate at the Funeral Mass.

Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Lafayette.

James, mostly known as "Pap", served as a police officer with the St. Martinville Police Department for over 30 years until his retirement. He enjoyed listening to reggae music and barbecuing for family gatherings. Pap adored his family, especially his grandkids. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by wife of over 20 years, Phyllis Citty Papillion; sons, Jordan Papillion, Dominic Papillion and Brock Picard (Danette); daughters Mikaelah Papillion (Tyren), Jamie Papillion (Brock), Candice Rogers (Brice), Teri Johnson, Blair Papillion and Julian Papillion; sisters, Sarah Breaux, Angela Landry and Yumika Papillion (Kee); brother, Jason Papillion (Earline); grandchildren, Karsen, Jizelle, Brylee, Sarah, Raegun, Kali, Ellyahna, Amelia, Prince, Princess, Kery, Marcus, Journee, Justyce, Jenesis and Jermany.

He is preceded in death by his grandson, Tregun Picard; parents, Eugene Papillion and Beverly Harrison Papillion; and brother-in-law, Kenneth Landry.

Pallbearers will be Brock Prejean, Hunter Martin, Tanner Dorion, Colton Punch, LaTroy Johnson, Jonathan Arceneaux and Quaylain Brown.

Honorary pallbearers will be Lance Landry, Keon Papillion, Brock Picard, Jordan Papillion, Dominic Papillion, Karsen Broussard, Tyren Broussard and Brice Rogers.
