St. Martinville - A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 29, 2020, at Pellerin Funeral Home in St. Martinville for James Richard, Sr., 65, who passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2020, at his home.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 10:00 am until 10:00 pm on Tuesday and continue on Wednesday at 7:00 am until time of funeral service.
A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Tuesday.
Susan Jenkins will officiate at the Funeral Service. Interment will follow at St. Elizabeth Cemetery in Coteau Holmes.
James was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. He loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his son Jimmy, his loving wife and his grandchildren. James enjoyed fishing, taking his daily walks, making his daily phone calls to family and friends, sitting on his porch, and taking his wife out to eat. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving spouse of 46 years, Catherine Olander Richard; son, Joseph James "Jimmy" Richard, Jr. (Katina); brother, John Richard (Charlene); sisters, Emma Champagne (Rudy), Elaine Bonin (Lucien), Priscilla Domingue (Tony), Patsy Richard, Theresa Richard, and Lisa Richard; grandchildren, Dylan Smith (Stephanie), Jacob Richard, Austin Richard (Nichole), Hunter Richard (Jessi), Kaylin Richard (Simon); great-grandchildren, Stacey Lyn Richard, Khylin-Blaine Johnson, Kruz Johnson, Nolan Breaux, Carson Brasseaux, Chloe Stelly, Lian Courville, and one on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jean Batiste and Germaine Richard; sons, Shannon, Shane, and Dwayne Richard; grandson, Blaine Richard; great granddaughter, Gracie Claire Richard; brother, J.C. Richard; sister, Patricia Milazzo; daughter-in-law, Stacey Lyn Richard; sister-in-law, Mary Louise Olander; father-in-law, Sylvester Olander, Sr.; and mother-in-law, Cecile LeBlanc Olander.
Pallbearers will be Dylan Smith, Jacob Richard, Austin Richard, Hunter Richard, Kiley Latiolais, and Raymond Olander.
Honorary pallbearers will be Lucien Bonin and Sylvester Olander Jr.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family to help with funeral expenses.
