James 'Larry' Stelly

Arnaudville - A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, July 6, 2018, at Pellerin Funeral Home in Arnaudville for James "Larry" Stelly, 68, who passed away on Monday, July 2, 2018. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 4:30 pm until 8:00 pm on Thursday and continue on Friday at 8:00 am until 10:00 am. The ceremony will be performed by Guy Burnaman, and the eulogy will be given by Charles Castille. Interment will follow at St. John Francis Regis Cemetery in Arnaudville. Larry was a teacher and school administrator in St. Landry Parish for 34 years. He was always a student at heart with a lifelong love and passion for learning. He liked staying active by playing tennis and running. Larry was a huge fan of New Orleans Saints football, ULL Ragin Cajuns, LSU Tigers, and the Los Angeles Dodgers. His family was important to him, especially his two granddaughters - he enjoyed playing and taking selfies with them. Larry will be greatly missed by all. He is survived by his daughter, Jessica Stelly Peterman and husband Josh; brothers, Roland Stelly, Lloyd Stelly and wife Phyllis, and John Earl Stelly and wife Rose; sisters, Yvonne Kennedy and husband Boyd and Gail Castille and husband Charles; and two grandchildren, Kathryn and Clara Peterman. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph Dudley and Agnes Marks Stelly; and brother, Alfred Stelly. Pallbearers will be David Castille, Judith Stelly Crowder, Teddy Fruge, Charles Judice, Stacy Miller, and Josh Peterman. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made in his name to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston St., Ste. 200, Lafayette, LA 70503.
