Janice Doucet Durio

Cecilia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 pm on Saturday, November 16, 2019, at St. Joseph Church in Cecilia for Janice Marie Doucet Durio, 60, who passed away on Wednesday, November 13, 2019, at The Carpenter House - St. Joseph Hospice in Lafayette. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Friday and continue on Saturday at 8:00 am until 11:30 am. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Friday. Rev. Lloyd F. Benoit will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Cecilia. Janice volunteered her time every year for the Cajun Woodstock benefit for St. Jude's in Church Point. She loved following her daughter's softball team. As a pastime, she enjoyed playing cards, Pokeno, and Bingo. Janice had a very giving heart to anyone in need and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those less fortunate. During her lengthy illness, she continued to fight so that she could be there for her husband and son. Janice's love for her family is what gave her the will to live. She is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, Edward Leo Durio; and her son, Chad Edward Durio, both of Arnaudville. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Ashley Ann Durio; her father, Kermit Louis Doucet; her mother, Roberta "Bertha" Venable Doucet; and two infant brothers. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Durio, Mason Durio, Dwayne Veronie, John Huval, Brandon Marks, and Ronald Veronie. Honorary pallbearers will be Stephen Rusch, Chad Durio, Roger Doucet, Nick Doucet, and Kent Thibodeaux. The family would like to express their gratitude to Burnella Doucet for her unselfish care and devotion in caring for Janice until the very end.
