Janice Ruth Wynn Knight

New Iberia - Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm on Thursday, September 21, 2023, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia, for Janice Ruth Wynn Knight, 65, who passed away peacefully in her sleep at her best friend's home in Lafayette, Louisiana on Sunday, September 17, 2023. 

Visitation will be at Pellerin Funeral Home from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm on Thursday.

Entombment will be at a later date.

Janice was born in New Iberia, Louisiana on November 1, 1957.  She was a woman of many passions and interests, and a vibrant soul who lived life to the fullest. She had an immense love for nature and could often be found tending to her beautiful garden. An avid antiquer, Janice had an eye for hidden treasures and a deep appreciation for the stories they held. Music also filled Janice's soul, and she loved attending concerts that brought people together through shared melodies. She had a competitive spirit and thoroughly enjoyed engaging in games like backgammon and card games with family and friends. Her laughter echoed through countless game nights as she reveled in friendly competition. Janice also had a talent for nurturing hearts through food. Nothing made her happier than feeding people with dishes lovingly prepared from her own kitchen. Gathering around meals filled with warmth and laughter brought Janice immeasurable joy as she witnessed the bonds forged over shared plates. It was no surprise that Janice was a self-proclaimed foodie who embarked on culinary adventures with open arms. Janice possessed a relentless spirit of adventure. She was a world traveler who had explored all 50 states and ventured beyond their borders time and again. From picturesque landscapes to bustling cities, she soaked in the beauty and diversity of each place she visited. The memories accumulated throughout her journeys colored her life with vibrant experiences. A true hippie at heart, Janice embraced the values of love, peace, and harmony. Her free-spirited nature radiated warmth wherever she went, touching the lives of those fortunate enough to cross her path. She cherished moments spent with family above all else and took particular joy in being with her beloved grandchildren. Their laughter filled her heart with boundless love.

Janice is survived her longtime companion, Carl Hebert; by three children, Justin Hawkins, Tabitha Louviere (Aaron), and Hutch Knight; a sister, Roxanne Robinson (Ronnie); grandchildren, Raeli, Drake and Kiley Hawkins and their mother, Nikki Hawkins, Hunter and Trae Dubois, and Layla, Eli, Aurora and Maximus Louviere; a niece, Alicia Waguespack (Shaun) and their family; best friend, Jenny Davis; goddaughter, Jessica David; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her father, George Wynn; mother, Shirley Johnson Hodges; a son, Trinity Gary; and two granddaughters, Magnolia and Raynlyn. 

Janice Ruth Wynn Knight will be remembered as a beacon of light in the lives she touched. Through her passions, travels, and unwavering love for others, she cultivated lasting connections that transcended boundaries. Her legacy will live on in the memories shared by friends and family who were lucky enough to have known such a remarkable soul.
