New Iberia - Funeral services will be at 6:00 PM , Friday, November 11, 2011 , at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia, for Jay D. Baker, 83, who passed away on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 in Mandeville.
Rev. Ed Degeyter will officiate.
Born on January 22, 1928 in Gueydan, Mr. Baker served our country in the U.S. Army, during the Korean War. Working in the oilfield for over 32 years, he enjoyed reading and gardening.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Melva Hollier Baker of Mandeville; daughter, Ramona Baker Latiolais and husband Kelvin of Mandeville; son, Patrick Baker and wife Lisa of Lewisville, Texas; brother, L.J. Baker of Jennings; sister, Lena Vincent of Kaplan; 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Agnes LaPointe Baker; a son, Keith Baker; and a sister, Vergie Baker.
A gathering of family and friends will be Friday from 10:30 AM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd , in New Iberia .
