J.C. Strayer

J.C. Strayer Mr. J.C. Strayer, 81, of New Iberia passed away on Saturday, June 16, 2018, after a courageous eight-year battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marge and Heine Strayer. He is survived by a brother, Gene Strayer and wife Sue of Germantown, OH; wife of 60 years, Noretta Jean Stayer; sons, Stewart Strayer and wife Julie of Corpus Christi, TX, and Fritz Strayer of New Iberia; daughters, Jeanie Watson and husband Jeff of Palestine, TX, and Tracey Mosley and husband Bert of Durant, OK; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many beloved extended family members and friends. J.C. was a 1959 Civil Engineer graduate of the University of Cincinnati, Ohio, and retired from Armco Steel Corporation after 30 years of service. In 1980, Armco promoted J.C. to become C.E.O. of Par Industries at the Port of New Iberia. He was very proud to work with a fine yard crew, leadermen, supervisors, superintendents and administrative staff.
