Jeanelle Guidry Landry

St. Martinville - Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 31, 2007, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville for Jeanelle Guidry Landry, 69, who died Sunday, January 28, 2007 at her residence. Entombment will follow at St. Michael Mausoleum in St. Martinville. Prior to her retirement, after 40 years of service, Jeanelle was Chief Deputy of the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Department. ?She was instrumental in the development of the Triad Program of St. Martin Parish, which aids the elderly. ?This program is presently a nationwide program. Jeanelle enjoyed gardening, shopping, and traveling, but most of all she treasured the time she spent with her grandchildren. ?She helped so many people and touched so many lives; she will be missed by all who had the honor of knowing her. Survivors include her husband, Russell Landry of St. Martinville; her daughters, Lamar Bertrand and her husband, Toby of St. Martinville and Lark Colvin and her husband, Patrick of Lafayette; her brother, Raymond Guidry of Breaux Bridge; her sister, Lilly Mae Landry of Lake Charles; five grandchildren, Dylan Bertrand and his wife, Tiffany, Dusti Bertrand, Dixie Bertrand, and Erika and Kristen Colvin; and one great grandchild, Alex Bertrand. She was preceded in death by her parents, John C. and Esma Dumatrait Guidry. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 1:00 p.m. ~ 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday and continue at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday until time of service. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening. Pallbearers will be Patrick Colvin, Toby Bertrand, Dylan Bertrand, Al Landry, Brock Romero, and Becket Breaux. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Fuselier, Audrey Thibodeaux, Ward Breaux, James R. Romero, M.D., Raymond Guidry, and Pat Landry. Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville is in charge of arrangements.
