Coteau - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 8, 2018, at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Coteau for Jeanette "Moma Jean" Bonin, 82, who passed away on Wednesday, September 5, 2018, in Coteau.
Entombment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Rev. Brian Harrington will be the Celebrant.
A gathering of family and friends will be Friday from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Pellerin Funeral Home. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm Friday. Visitation will continue on Saturday from 8:00 am until 9:15 am.
Mrs. Bonin was born on October 16, 1935 to the late Felecien and Ella Dore Duhon. She worked as a clerk and cashier for Comptons Jewelers, Wal Mart, Menards Grocery, and Babineauxs Grocery. She was the former owner of Moma Jeans Grocery in Coteau, and her hobbies included gardening, sewing and watching television. Moma Jean loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughters, Louise Bonin and family friend Karen Bertelsman of New Iberia, Wanda Bonin Rose and husband Darcy of Claremore, OK, Sandra Bonin East and husband John of New Iberia, and Donna Bonin Dwyer and husband Bobby of Broussard; son, Dwayne Bonin and wife Billie Jo of New Iberia; grandchildren, Heather Derouen, Keira Henry, Dylan Rose, Ryan East, Shaney East and wife Allison, Jakob Duran and wife Kelsey, Wesly Dwyer, Lukas Dwyer, Kalie Hargrave and husband Brandon, Kelci Bonin, and Tyler Bonin; great grandchildren, Brianne Derouen, Tristin Derouen, Jonah Derouen, Jayden Bellard, Leighton East, Rowan East, Karson Hargrave, Briggs Hargrave, and Kynli Bonin; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Ray Allen Joseph Bonin; a son, Darryl Joseph Bonin; sisters, infant sister Anna, Agnes Hulin and husband Lodias, Helen Hulin and husband Otis, Olina Boutte, Hazel Dugas and husband Stafford, Alice Vice and husband Leonard, Lily Bouillion and husband Wilmer and Lucille Delahoussaye and husband Chester; brothers, Eustice Duhon and wife Lena, Ulysse Duhon and wife Hilda, Wallace Duhon and wife Earline, and Elgie Duhon.
