St.Martinville - A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, September 4, 2012, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville for Jeanne Andrepont Essmeier, 74, who passed away on Friday, August 31, 2012.
A gathering of family of friends will be observed at Pellerin Funeral Home in St. Martinville on Monday, September 3, 2012, beginning at 4 pm until 8 pm. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.
Rev. Rusty P. Richard will officiate at the Memorial Mass. Scriptures will be read by Albert Andrepont and Paul Ardoin. Gift Bearers will be D'ette Stelly, Anne Lillie and Charlar Brew.
Mrs. Essmeier was a graduate of Northwestern State University in Home Economics and History. She later obtained her Masters Degree in Library Science from Louisiana State University.
Jeanne was the Director of the St. Martin Parish Library System for 16 years; she had previously served as the librarian at DeRidder High School. She was a member of Tri Sigma Sorority, Association of Professional Educators of Louisiana, Louisiana Library Association, and Louisiana Association of School Librarians.
In her free time she enjoyed reading, spending time with her immediate family, but she most especially enjoyed watching her grandson play tennis and traveling with her daughter to tennis matches across the south.
She is survived by her husband, Samuel M. Essmeier of St. Martinville; her daughter, Betsy Essmeier Schupp and husband, Benjamin, of New Orleans; her brother, Albert Andrepont and wife, Fran, of Rainbow City, AL; two sisters, Katherine Hebert of Donaldsonville, and Yvonne Andrepont of St. Amant; and her grandson, Chase Andr Schupp.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Maurice and Alberta Andrepont.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105
