St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am, on Saturday, November 28, 2015, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville, for Jerome Thomas, Jr., 74, who passed away on Wednesday, November 18, 2015, in Lafayette. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at from 4:30 pm until 10:00 pm on Friday, and continue on Saturday at 7:00 am until 9:30 am, at Pellerin Funeral Home in St. Martinville. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Friday. Rev. Thomas James will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Logan Kately, Keisha Brown, and Melanie Sam. Gift Bearers will be Brandon Thomas, Tori Maziel, and Dana Faye Mitchell. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery in St. Martinville. Mr. Thomas enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching sports, and gardening. He was known for his talented way of barbecuing; it was always a great day when his family knew that he would be barbecuing. Most of his time was spent with his loving wife of 50 years and his family. Jerome was a hard worker and dedicated to his employer of 40 years, Bayou Pipe Company. He will be remembered by all who knew and loved him for his compassion and care of others. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Jane Wiltz Thomas of St. Martinville; his daughters, Jerrie Maziel and husband Rodney of Parks, and Jennifer Kately and husband Kevin of Parks; two brothers, his twin, Morris Thomas, and Joseph "JC" Thomas and wife Jane, all of St. Martinville; his sisters, Cecil Sam of St. Martinville, Olla Mae Bruno and husband Harold of Carencro, and Carolyn Green and husband Floyd of Houston, TX; his grandchildren, Brandon Thomas of St. Martinville, Logan Kately of Parks, Tori Maziel of Parks, and Landon Kately of Parks; and a great grandson, Gabriel Charles of Houston, TX. He was preceded in death by parents, Jerome Thomas, Sr. and Lucille LeBlanc Thomas; his brother, Calvin Joseph Thomas; his sister, Mary Lucille Thomas; a special nephew, Terrelle Thomas; and his in-laws, Anna and Martin Wiltz, Sr. Pallbearers will be Morris Thomas Jr., Wendell Charles, Gregory Sam, Hillman "Tony" Mouton Jr., Karnell Thomas, and Kevin "Chubby" Mouton.
