Jerry Menard Jones Coteau - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 3:00 PM, on Thursday, March 31, 2016, at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church for Jerry Menard Jones, 70, who passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2016, in Lafayette, LA. Entombment will follow at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will be at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd., New Iberia, from 4:00 PM until 10:00 PM on Wednesday, March 30. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM on Wednesday. Visitation will resume at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia on Thursday, March 31, from 8:00 AM until 2:00 PM. Rev. Ed Degeyter will Celebrate, and Rev. Brian Harrington will Concelebrate. Jerry, also known as "Maw," was our glue, voice of reason, swift kick in the behind, and our party animal. She loved her husband, kids, grandkids, and great grandkids. She lived for her family. She loved playing cards & Pokeno. She had a zest for life that was evident in her love of food, singing, and dancing. She was everything to so many people, but to her family and friends, she was "the genius." She was stubborn and hard-headed as all get out. Just ask those who were around to witness the strength and courage she displayed towards the end of her life. She was the definition of a warrior. She will be forever loved and cherished in our hearts. Jerry is survived by her loving husband of over 51 years, James Boyd Jones; children, Angela C. Jones, Michael C. Jones and wife Christine, Jason Jones, Sr. and wife June, and Terri A. Jones, all of New Iberia; grandchildren, Nathan Beisser and wife Holly of Denham Springs; Kyle J. Toucheque (Carissa Broussard) of New Iberia; Chasitie Broussard (Chasity Aguillard) of New Iberia, Trae Broussard of New Iberia, Ethan M. Jones and wife Ashley of Youngsville, Kristen B. Stewart and husband Cole Stewart of Germany, Emily Beisser and fiancee Taylor Oubre of Lafayette, Jason "T.J." Jones, Jr. of New Iberia, Charli R. Tilbury of New Iberia, Trace T. Tilbury of New Iberia, Cullen J. Jones of New Iberia, Jaci Mae Jones of New Iberia, and Kathy White of New Iberia; great-granddaughters, Autumn Stewart of Germany, Katherine Beisser of Denham Springs, Gabrielle Beisser of Denham Springs, and Gracie Derise of New Iberia, great-grandsons, Hunter Stewart of Germany, Landon P. Jones of Youngsville, Tyler Derise of New Iberia, and Skylar Derise of New Iberia; sisters, Mazel Meyers and Lorraine Girouard and husband Bert, all of New Iberia; brothers, Francis Menard and wife Barbara, and Eugene Menard and wife Mary Jane, all of New Iberia. She was preceded in death by brothers, Lennis, Lloyd, Ovey "Joe," Harold, Syprine, and Whitney Menard; sisters, Evelyn Theriot and Theresa Myers; father, Homer Menard, and mother, Azilda Girouard Menard. Pallbearers will be Nathan Beisser, Kyle J. Toucheque, Trae Broussard, Ethan M. Jones, Jason "T.J." Jones Jr., Trace Tilbury, and Cullen J. Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael C. Jones and Jason Jones, Sr. Special thanks to Lorraine Girouard, Joyce Beisser, Sharon Johnson, Mary Ann Granger, and Hazel Foreman; caretaker, Mary Viltz; and the wonderful staff of Our Lady of Lourdes.
