Jessie R. Bienvenu

St. Martinville - A Funeral Service will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 21, 2022, at Pellerin Funeral Home in St. Martinville for Jessie R. Bienvenu, 103, who passed away on Monday, May 16, 2022, at her residence surrounded by her family.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home in St. Martinville from 4:00 pm until 10:00 pm on Friday and continue on Saturday at 7:00 am until 11:00 am.

Interment will follow at Methodist Cemetery in St. Martinville.

Jessie was born on August 31, 1918, in Chalk Butte, South Dakota, and attended Casper Senior High School.  She was one of the founding organizers of the St. Martinville Garden Club and was a lifelong member. Because of her love for gardening and flowers, she was always on the judging committee for the surrounding areas.  Jessie was a licensed florist for many years and enjoyed decorating.  She was presented the Key to the City of St. Martinville by Mayor Thomas Nelson. Jessie enjoyed gardening, planting flowers, rescuing animals, and most of all, helping those in need.  She will be remembered as a kind and intelligent woman who served as the Orator of the St. Martinville Longfellow-Evangeline State Park and was known as the lady of history.

She is survived by her sons, Wesley C. Bienvenu, III (Karen), J.R. Bienvenu (Nina), Dennis Bienvenu (Liz), Raymond Bienvenu (Nadean); her daughter-in-law, Carol Bienvenu; eight grandchildren, Andre' Bienvenu, Scott Bienvenu, Danielle Bienvenu, Benjamin Bienvenu, Kelly Bienvenu, Jason Bienvenu, Shaunna Bienvenu Oubre, Brice Bienvenu; and five great grandchildren, Olivia R. Oubre, Elizabeth Bienvenu, Jakubo Kopjtko, Oliver Stephen Bienvenu, and Victor Bienvenu.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley C. Bienvenu, Jr; son, Stephen B. Bienvenu; grandson, Ryan Bienvenu; parents, Raymond and Laura Rice Reasoner; brother, Raymond Reasoner; and her sisters, Francis Reasoner and Carol Reasoner. 

Pallbearers will be Wesley Bienvenu, Dennis Bienvenu, Raymond Bienvenu, Brice Bienvenu, Jason Bienvenu, and Scott Bienvenu.

Honorary pallbearer will be Jan R. Bienvenu.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks and appreciation to all the wonderful hospice people who took such good care of Jessie.
