Coteau - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, June 4, 2019, at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Coteau for Jessie “Bubba” Joseph Viator, 82, who passed away on Friday, May 31, 2019, at his home, surrounded by his loved ones.
Entombment will follow in Nativity of Our Lady Church Mausoleum in New Iberia.
Rev. Brian Harrington will be the Celebrant.
A gathering of family and friends will be at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm on Tuesday.
A rosary, led by the Men's Rosary Group, will be prayed at 11:00 am on Tuesday.
A lifelong resident of New Iberia, Jessie “Bubba” Joseph Viator was born on November 18, 1936, and proudly served our country in the Army National Guard for 11 years. He retired from Cleco after 39 years of service. Bubba loved camping, traveling, horse and dog races, Saints and LSU football, and spending time with family and friends. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be deeply missed.
Mr. Viator is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Shirley Hulin Viator; daughters, Katie Viator Landry and husband Ricky Landry, Sr. of Youngsville, and Jessica Viator Devillier and husband Stephen Devillier of New Iberia; grandchildren, Ricky Landry II, Ciara Mae Boutte, Seth David Boutte, and Grace Katherine Boutte; and many close family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jamie David Viator; his parents, Eugenia and Edna Viator; and siblings, Wesley Viator and Leona "Tut" Champagne.
Pallbearers will be Ricky Landry II, Seth Boutte, Ricky Landry Sr., Stephen Devillier, Chris Champagne, and Don Delahoussaye, Sr.
